MDA Grooves brings South American sunshine, jazz and samba to his standout new EP
It comes on his home label Universo Positivo with three tracks melding jazz, house and Afro.

MDA Grooves has become a driving force on the Universo Positivo label and a leader in the contemporary Latin house scene with a superb run of releases in recent months. Importantly, his fusion of Latin house with Afro, Salsa, Cumbia and Disco is done authentically, with live instrumentation and an array of hardware that gives it emotional and cultural weight. His warm, organic sound is new but rooted in tradition, and he’s collaborated with Latin music artists like Lilian Vieira and ‘Sloopy’ Mike Gyamfi.
The gorgeous ‘Ipanema Jazz’ drifts in as effortlessly as a sea breeze on the Rio beach it’s named after. Tropical percussion and radiant melodies bring pure sunshine while expressive trumpet lines soar and a solid house kick keeps things grounded and grooving.
‘Que Beleza’ turns up the heat. It's humid, steamy and dub-soaked with shimmering percussion and weighty drums locking into a hypnotic sway before cosmic synths start a trip off to the stars.
Finally, ‘Carioca Bounce’ is a cheeky, piano-laced party starter full of carnival spirit. With florid flutes, playful percussion and a rhythm section that begs hips to wiggle, it’s pure feel-good fuel from sundown to sun-up. Once again here, MDA Grooves reaffirms his role as a key voice in contemporary house music.
