Salphunk, an exciting new artist in the disco scene, makes a bold entrance with the Live On EP, his first release on the cutting-edge label Universo Positivo. Based in Lisbon, Salphunk does most of the production and writing from his own recording studio, collaborating with local musicians and artists to craft a distinctive sound. His lifelong passion for music is evident in his work, where he seamlessly blends decades of musical influences with a fresh, contemporary edge. The Live On EP features three standout tracks, each offering a unique sonic journey. "Live On (Paris Mix)" contrasts with its sleazy yet sophisticated orchestral strings, a growling bass line, and a Moog synth solo that weaves effortlessly through luscious vocals, evoking the plush, decadent atmosphere of a downtown club with velvet walls and thick carpets. "Live On (Lisbon Mix)" is a variation on the same theme but captures a different mood—one that feels like a track you’d hear in the early morning during a taxi ride home after a night spent in the city’s intimate, smoke and sweat-soaked clubs where the DJ spins rare, obscure tunes. This mix resonates with the underground pulse of Lisbon's nightlife. “Saturday Night (Amsterdam Mix)” is a funk-fueled homage to '70s Amsterdam disco, with gritty clavinet riffs, funky horn stabs, and lively timbale breaks that transport you to the basement clubs of the old red-light district, where the bands played until the last patron left.
